September Recap

Happy October! I wanted to give a little update on the last month at Rice & Home. It was a busy month. I started off by bringing out touches of fall decor. This year I’m loving sherpa pumpkins, warm, cozy fall colors, and lots of candles. I’m carrying the warmth into as many little corners as possible to soften my space.

Also in September, I started my fall garden. I lucked out and picked up 4 raised garden beds on clearance for under $15 at Walmart. So I got those built and filled with my soil mix, and then bought some zinnias, petunias, and marigolds to add in with my seeds. I planted squash, cucumber, broccoli, tomato, and lettuce in the beds. I’m hoping for a long fall growing season here in Florida (Zone 8), so crossing my fingers! I did start some of the seeds maybe a little later than I could have, but I believe there will be time for one last harvest of the summer veggies. In some of my pots, I still have red potatoes, cherry tomatoes, sunflowers, peppers, and more lettuce. The more you plant, the larger chance of success in my opinion.

A little further into September, I brought out more fall decor in brighter hues of orange and gold, which I love! Again, for me the fall is all about cozy warm spaces. I updated my kitchen bar, entryway, and some other areas. My home has an a mostly open concept living/dining area, with a half wall in between and tall cathedral ceilings.  This last week I’ve started bringing out my Halloween decor for October!

Lastly, I started a new Fall Series on Instagram, Gameday Appetizers. In honor of football season, every Saturday or Sunday each week I am posting a reel of the appetizer of the week. So far I’ve done Jalapeno Popper Pigs in a Blanket, Buffalo Chicken Dip, and Chicken Parmesean Sliders. They were all sooo good! Check out IG for the recipes ๐Ÿ™‚

That wraps up September! In October, I’ll show you my updated coffee bar, give you garden updates, and likely some shopping guides for fall decor, hosting for Thanksgiving, and Christmas decor & gift guides. Stick around for that! ๐Ÿ™‚
